2019 China-UK Hi! Tech Festival - Tech for All at London Tech Week

Together with Somerco we co-hosted the 2019 China-UK Hi Tech Festival on June 10th to kick of London Tech Week. Many entrepreneurs, investors and tech industry leaders from across Europe & the world gathered at Cocoon Global to discuss all the latest on hot tech topics such as  FinTech, Blockchain, AI, the Digital Divide and also the  revelant laws and regulations. The discussions & especially the networking sessions helped strenghten ties and cooperation between investors from China and the UK.

Theresa May opened the London Tech Week 2019 ceremony and called for a coming together of forces and ensuring the government will strengthen global collaboration to ensure the UK is still "one of the best places to set up science and technology enterprises in the world". 

May further announced the launch of a competitive science and tech programme supported by Microsoft and other tech giants in the UK to focus on building an even more ambitious business environment within the UK.

At the China-UK Hi! Tech Festival Professor Xiong Yu, Co-Chairman of Cocoon Global, delivered a welcome speech and elaborated oh the current situation of China-UK high-tech cooperation and his vision for the future. He praised LTW for providing a huge international platform for high-tech talents and enterprises. He sees cooperation between Chinese and British enterprises as bringing invaluable benefits to both countries. Sky News covered the event.

Aga Gajownik, Director of Marketing and Communications, Katrina Hutchings of Association Innovation and Integration Ltd., Vercida; Marsha tayler-daniel, co-chair of Finance Innovation Lab; Steve Coppin, lecturer at Oxford University; Sara Ahmadi, founder of Shopest; Maggie Buggie, director of innovation services and solutions at SAP and a member of the board of directors of CMI Charted Management Institute participated in the first panel discussion on the diversity of technology companies and analyzed the current status and future trends of companies in the high-tech sector.

 

 

 

Maggie Buggie, board member of the CMI Charted Management Institute chaired a panel on current tech innovation issues and explored emerging trends and opportunities. Panelist were Collinson's director of innovation Suhas Chatekar;  Greg Wixted, co-professor of entrepreneurship at the university of Carolina; Daniel Tuitt, Developed Thinking services design and innovation consultant; and Philip Thompson, chief technology officer of autoxchange.io, and Norman Lewis, Bubbletone advisory board and former head of human resource innovation at PwC UK and of technology research at Orange UK .

 

 

Jan Softa, CEO of Somerco, and Peter Paduh, Director of Socialbox, head of Digital Dvidi Data cloud computing, Baiju Shah, CEO of eBiashara, and Markela Zeneli, President of Hacksmiths discussed the digitization of modern technology and proposed to strengthen collaboration among enterprises in various directions.

 

 

The panel titled 'Mass Adoption of Fintech' was a highlight of the day, hosted by our partner Eric Van Der Kleij, CEO of Frontier Network and Chairman of Keybox and joined by Janina Lowisz, co-founder and VP of Marketing of Cashaa; Mark Walker, co-founder and chief operating officer of The Fintech Power 50; Vas Musca Taxscouts; Zeeshan Chaudhry, founder and CEO of DACX; and Jules Ratcliffe, founding partner of Frontier Network. The discussion centred around how fintech businesses operate and mapped out the future of fintech. Eric also led a discussion with Emile Delam, digital assets and innovation consultant at Q4 Capital, Richard Hallewell, Vice Chairman of the London Governmental Blockchain Association, Robert Cooke, founding member of Oxford Blockchain Foundation and co-founder of Chainable,  and Jake Shaw, investment managemer at Citizen Equity.
