Last Wednesday, Eric Van Der Kleij and his team announced their new brand: Frontier Network in a launch event hosted in our Cocoon Global event space.
Frontier Network has emerged from C4DR and the highly experienced team around Eric Van der Kleij, Nick Searle, Jules Ratcliffe, and Zoe Williamson. As a platform, Frontier Network will be the home for emerging technologies worldwide and will help companies scale to China. David Cunningham, a serial entrepreneur and advisor on data sharing is heading the Frontier Network data hub, which will aid companies scale with data knowledge.
The agenda of the evening encompassed presentations, keynotes, a fireside chat, panel discussion and plenty of networking.
In their opening remarks, both Eric Van der Kleij of Frontier Network and Prof Xiong, Chairman of Cocoon Global, shared their joy over the ongonig collaboration and shared mission of fostering and streamlining tech trade with China.
Nick Searle of Frontier Network subsequently shared an innovation case study, followed by a fireside chat between Eric Van der Kleij and Rob Gaskell of 20|30 and a panel discussion on innovation, investment and tokenisation moderated by Eric Van der Kleij and joined by Alain Flays of Keybox, Veronica Mihai Das of BloomWater Capital, Rob Gaskell of 20|30 and Omaid Hizawa of DWorkS.
Other case studies included the highly successful collaboration of Frontier Network & Active Ledger, a forward-thinking digitally distributed ledger technology that seeks to revolutionise how legacy systems continue to move and adapt. The presentation by Jules Ratcliffe of Frontier Network and Jennifer Chung of Active Ledger highlighted how the companies jointly helped a Chinese client succeed in the agricultural business space.
Furthermore, Toby Lewis of leading market monitor for blockchain and emerging technologies Novum Insights released the Frontier/Novum report.
Collaborative Projects between Frontier Network & Cocoon Global
Frontier Network and Cocoon Global utilised this networking evening to launch the 2019 China UK Entrepreneurship Competition. Chinese delegates and government representatives present were Mr. Lizhang Chen, Party Secretary of Jinjiang, Chengdu and Mr Boshu Liang, Head of the China Association for International Exchange of Personnel. David Cunningahm of Frontier Network further announced 2 new hubs under the Cocoon/Frontier collaboration: A Sustainability Hub and a Data Hub.
The presentations culminated with Bin Han's introductino of YingDe Group and its mission to match top talent with Chinese investors through the innovator government scheme. Through said UK government-backed visa scheme launched in 2019, YingDe introduces high-quality business skills and investment from Chinese investors to UK SMEs. YingDe works directly with SMEs to address their specific requirements, as well as closely cooperates with private partners and government bodies throughout the UK.
